Sunday Best: Seattle’s only style editor on mirror selfies and summer

Seattle Met design editor Zoe Sayler hates obtaining her picture taken, but she loves using her picture. Mirror selfies — a millennial diary falling out of type as high-res telephone cameras proliferate — present “the potential to hone, or get a genuine grasp, on how you want the entire world to see you,” Sayler states. “And that is all, I believe, that fashion is.”

Sayler could be the only Seattle journalist with the title “style editor,” a position that invokes New York catwalks. (Sayler earlier interned for The Seattle Times, exactly where we became good friends.)

“Seattle model,” on the other hand, evokes Blundstone boots, Patagonia jackets and Carhartt beanies — not exactly superior manner. Anytime Sayler tells a person what her occupation is, she feels the stress to disprove that.

“I want to characterize both of those the journal and the town perfectly, mainly because it’s not as unfashionable as folks like to say,” Sayler claims. Area designers like Anna Dong and Dan McLean create their very own aesthetics without having competing with “a million different individuals who are making an attempt to make it in the correct similar market they are.”

In this mirror selfie, Sayler’s carrying a “Paloma” skort and sports activities bra from Seattle eco-pleasant activewear enterprise Girlfriend Collective and a sheer prime from Fremont Vintage Mall. Sayler has not been submitting selfies as a great deal not too long ago because of wintertime, grey spring and Juneuary — but she can really feel things about to adjust.

“Just the idea of summer has made me want to acquire additional selfies,” Sayler says.
